Minister Amina Mukalazi Pledges to Strengthen Uganda’s Investment Climate

The Minister of State for Privatization and Investment, Hajjat Amina Mukalazi, has pledged to strengthen Uganda’s investment climate by working closely with investors, government agencies, and development partners to address existing bottlenecks and improve investor confidence.

She made the remarks on Wednesday during a handover ceremony where she officially assumed office from the former Minister of State for Privatization and Investment, Evelyn Anite.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury, Dr. Ramathan Ggoobi.

Mukalazi said strengthening Uganda’s investment environment would be among her top priorities, emphasizing collaboration with key stakeholders to resolve challenges affecting investors.

“I will focus on strengthening Uganda’s investment climate by working closely with investors, government agencies, and development partners to address prevailing bottlenecks and enhance investor confidence,” she said.

She also pledged to prioritise value-addition investments aimed at creating jobs for Ugandans, while supporting industrialisation and export-led growth.

Mukalazi thanked President Yoweri Museveni for entrusting her with the role and commended her predecessor for her service and contribution to Uganda’s investment agenda.

Evelyn Anite, in her remarks, thanked the ministry’s technical team for their support during her tenure, noting that it contributed to the expansion of Namanve Industrial Park, the establishment of Mbale Industrial Park, and the development of other industrial zones.

She pledged to support her successor as she settles into office.

Dr. Ggoobi praised Anite for her service and commitment to promoting Uganda’s investment agenda, noting that her tenure strengthened investor relations and provided a clear roadmap for attracting investment.

He welcomed Mukalazi to the ministry, describing the investment docket as critical to accelerating economic growth and achieving Uganda’s 10-fold growth strategy.

“The technical team is ready. Our mandate is clear: we shall provide timely data and sound policy advice for seamless execution so that political direction translates into economic results,” he said.

Ggoobi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and effective service delivery in support of Uganda’s investment and privatization agenda.
